Setting up Materials

Only users with Admin or Owner roles are able to create/edit materials.

If you use other materials you can add those materials to the Funnel in one of 2 ways:

Note: Material names shown in the Funnel are taked from within the material.ini file that ‘describes’ how Asiga printers interact with the material.

Get the Material file from the Asiga database

Funnel has access to the majority of the Material files that Asiga has in it’s database of supported materials. To access the database and include materials for us in the Funnel:

  1. Select the Manage icon in the left navigation bar
  2. Select the Materials tab in the Manage screen
  3. This shows you the list of materials currently available to Funnel
  4. Select the Add Materials button at the top right.
  5. The dialogue appears showing all the materials in the database, grouped by the company that makes them. Clicking on the Chevron beside the name will open the group and show you all the materials made by that company that are supported on Asiga printers.
  6. Use the search control to search for a company or the exact material name.
  7. Select the material, or materials, you want to use by clicking on the name of the materials, not the company name.
  8. Click the Add button on the bottom right of the dialogue to add the selected materials to the Funnel. This will also close the dialogue
Materials Dialogue

Import a local Material file

You may have material files that you have customised to work as you require. The Funnel allows you to import your custom material.ini file.

Follow steps 1-4 in the section Get the Material file from the Asiga database above.

  1. Press the Upload local material button
  2. In the file dialogue displayed navigate to the custom material.ini file you wish to import and select it
  3. Press the Open button

Note: If you are importing a customised version of a material already available in Funnel you should either first delete the existing version before importing a new one or change the name in the material.ini file so it will be unique. If you don’t do this you may end up with two material with the same name and you will not be able to tell which one is your custom one.

Delete a Material

To delete a material:

  1. Select the Manage icon in the left navigation bar
  2. Select the Materials tab in the Manage screen
  3. Select the material, or materials, you wish to delete and a red Delete button will appear.
  4. Press the Delete button to delete the selected materials. You will be show a dialogue asking if you are sure. Select Delete on the dialogue if you are sure, Cancel if you are not.

If one, or more, of the Material being deleted is used in one, or more templates, a dialog will appear titled “Unable to delete material(s)”.

Unable to Delete Materials

The dialog will present the list of templates currently using the material(s) that are attempting to be deleted. Hovering over each template in the dialog, an edit icon appears. If the edit icon is selected an Edit Template dialogue appears, allowing the user to change the material used by this template; see section on Setting up Templates for an example of the dialogue. Once all templates have different materials assigned, a deletion confirmation appears, allowing the user to proceed.
