General Program Flow

The general program flow assumes printers and templates have been setup, if that isn’t the case Parts are still accepted but no print jobs will be created since there is no way to print them.

Flow:

    • parts are uploaded and they appear in the Review tab of the Inbox, they have a Part type and Template assigned.
    • user checks the parts were correctly identified and the expected Template was assigned. If correct the user Accepts them, either individually or in bulk.
    • parts move to the Accepted tab
    • a background task, the scheduler, runs periodically to collect parts into Provisional jobs which are then assigned to printers. These Provisional jobs can be seen on the Timeline page and on the Print Jobs page on the Provisional tab.
    • When a printer is ready to accept a new job the next Provisional job will appear in the Print Jobs page, To Review tab,  for approval.
    • User can view the job and if all is well they can Accept the job.
    • The job now moves to the Accepted tab on the Print Jobs page.
    • The job is also sent to the printer and waits for the user to start it from the printer interface.

(Software printers don’t require a user to start them, they simply start a short time after the job arrives.

Items Needing Attention.

When there are items that need attention the UI will add notification badges to the menu item in the left navigation panel and when you navigate to that page you will see the notification badge on the tabs where items need user attention.

Notification Badges

The badges, related to a tab, disappear as soon as you open the tab where the attention is needed.
