FAQs
Can anyone see or access my printers?
No. Only people in your Funnel account can see the printers or send builds to them. No one outside your Funnel account will be able to add parts, view the printers or view and send builds to them.
Can anyone see the jobs I send to the printer?
No. Only registered users in your Funnel account can see files and jobs sent to your printer.
Can I continue to send builds to Composer when my printers are added to the Funnel?
Yes. You can continue to send builds to your printers through Composer, as well as through the Funnel.
Will the Funnel automatically send builds (a.k.a print jobs) to the printer?
No. The Funnel will create builds but you have final say on sending them to the printer.
Will the Funnel Edit or Remove builds already on my printer?
No. The Funnel will only send approved builds to printers. It will not change, delete, or reorder any builds already on the machine.
Can I use non Asiga materials in the Funnel, what If I have my own bespoke material?
Yes, you can use any material from the Open Material Library, no need to log in to Asiga Admin, they are available in the Funnel. You can also upload your own material ini files to use.
Can I print multiple different part types, like my dies and study models on the same Print Job?
Yes, in templates you can associate more than 1 part type to the template, simply select Dies and your Hollow or Solid Models.
Can I edit a Print Job that the Funnel created?
If you are not happy with the layout of a job you can use the requeue parts option. The Funnel will then begin creating another job based on machine availability and parts in the system. Requeing parts will not push them to the end of the queue.
If you need to refine a print job created in the Funnel then you can download it by using the ‘Rework Offline’ option, and then open in Composer using the ‘Import Build’ option in the File menu.
How many print jobs will the Funnel queue on a machine?
One. The Funnel checks if the printers have any queued jobs. It will only generate a print job when a printer is free or about to be free, this ensures the latest parts added to the Funnel will be considered for the Print Job.
I added a part but it hasn’t created a print job. When will it make a print job?
Until the job is full, your parts will be added to a provisional job (seen on the Print Jobs page). Provisional jobs are only finalised when the build plate is full, this is to avoid sending jobs to printers that only have one or two parts. You can choose to send part filled provisional jobs by ‘promoting them’.
Is there a way to force the Funnel to push multiple print jobs to my printers now? or force provisional jobs to be finalised?
Yes. You can promote ‘Provisional Jobs’ and then accept these for printing. Provisional jobs are packaged jobs based on the current parts in the system and the template, and printer constraints. They update as parts are added and if printer statuses change. Promoting the job will lock it down with the current parts and the target printer. Supports will be generated for it and you can then review it as you would for a finalised Print Job.
